Jesse English

The Department would like to congratulate 2012 MLA graduate Jesse English, who was recently named a Presidential Management Fellow. The Carter Administration created the Presidential Management Fellow program in 1977 in order to attract the best and brightest students to public service. Jesse is one of 628 finalists selected out of an initial pool of over 9,000 applicants. Students from universities throughout the country vie for the prestigious PMF positions, which require that students have demonstrated leadership and management abilities and a strong interest in public service. Presidential Management Fellows are then eligible for a variety of jobs in government; Jesse has accepted a position as a landscape architect with the US Forest Service. He'll receive training and then be assigned a 4 to 6 month developmental assignment. To find out more about the program and Jesse's plans, we caught up with him prior to his big move to Washington DC.
